ATR changer and cloning...

can anyone out there tell me why when I format my j2a040 card , and then change the atr , my card will no longer write in x2 software. it only writes in x2 before changing my ATR. leaving me with that "Nigerian blah blah blah" as atr. cuz if I change it after writing it blanks the payment info
