North Korean hacker tried to get a job at Kraken

A North Korean hacker tried to infiltrate the Kraken crypto exchange team by posing as an engineering candidate. He raised suspicions during his first interview: he connected under a different name and changed his tone during the conversation, as if he was receiving tips in real time.

Kraken received a warning from industry partners and compared the candidate's email address with a list associated with North Korean hackers. During the investigation, it turned out that he used fake documents and had previously tried to get a job at other companies under fake names.

At the final stage of the interview, the hacker was asked to show his ID and name local establishments in the city where he allegedly lives. He was unable to give clear answers, after which he was finally exposed.

12 people arrested in US for $263 million crypto fraud

The US Department of Justice has uncovered a large-scale cyber fraud scheme — 12 defendants, including foreigners, were engaged in phishing, hacking, and robberies from 2023 to 2025 in order to steal crypto assets.
