Job as a Front End Web-Developer

So I am currently learn front end web development, and wondered if I could turn it into a career.

But I was wondering if I taught myself front end fully and built an impressive portfolio would it be plausible I could get hired anyway?

It depends whether employers require certifications as part of their recruitment process.

You absolutely could. I worked for a few years as a backend developer, my resume was nothing but the work that I did for other people or companies, and I was self taught in what I did. One thing though is that I wouldn't keep yourself too attached to just front end development.
