Pay online and pick up store ?simple question

Hello, always i have used Delivery post mail to take my packages but i want to ask something.I was reading in a website and i saw “Pick up in store” and there writes “ you need to have the ID and dhe credit card you used in same name”. What they need the credit card ? For verify only to see if matches the numbers? Or they will make a transaction?
