Your MAC address gets stripped off the ethernet frame when it gets to your local router, when your http response comes back to your local router, your local router matches your IP to your MAC and slaps your MAC back on a new ethernet frame and hands it off to the switch you're connected to to be transmitted on your data link. It's your IP you should be worried about hiding, change your MAC too if your not using your own router...
