Let me share a parable with you:
There once lived a man named Ivan in a distant village. He was known for his misfortune and constant dissatisfaction with life. Whatever Ivan attempted, nothing ever seemed to work out. He tried to grow crops in his field, but always blamed the weather for poor harvests. When Ivan decided to take up a craft, no one bought his goods, and he blamed the buyers for their "poor taste." Even when he turned to fishing, the fish always escaped his nets, and Ivan cursed the rivers and lakes for being "empty."
Every day, Ivan walked through the village, complaining to anyone who would listen. He said the land was bad, the people were greedy, and nature was unfair. The villagers sympathized with him, but deep down, they thought, "Maybe the problem isn’t the world around him, but Ivan himself?"
One day, as Ivan was once again lamenting his unfortunate life, an old sage who lived on the edge of the village approached him and said:
— Ivan, let’s take a walk to a nearby mountain. It’s not far, and I want to show you something important.
Reluctantly, Ivan agreed. They walked for a long time until they reached the top of the mountain, where they could see the entire village below. The sage turned to Ivan and said:
— Look around, Ivan. What do you see?
— see our fields, forests, rivers, and houses," Ivan replied.
— That’s right. But tell me, Ivan, what do all these places have in common?
Ivan thought for a moment and answered:
— Everywhere I tried to do something, but nothing ever worked out.
— The sage nodded and said: You see the world around you, Ivan. But wherever you go, you always carry with you your thoughts, your habits, and your attitude. You blame the land, the people, and nature, but the true cause of all your failures is always with you. It’s within you.
Ivan looked at the sage in surprise:
— How can I fix this?
The sage smiled:
Start by taking responsibility for your life. If something doesn’t work out, don’t look for someone to blame. Instead, look within yourself and think about what you can change to become better. Because only by changing yourself can you change the world around you.
Ivan thought long and hard about the sage’s words. Upon returning to the village, he began to view his life differently. Instead of blaming others, he started learning from his mistakes and seeking new ways to solve his problems. And from the moment he took responsibility for his life, success gradually became his constant companion.
And so Ivan learned that the most important step toward success is taking responsibility for your actions and stopping the search for blame in others. For the world is a mirror that reflects what is within us.
Drawing conclusions from it is simple: don't be foolish and blame everyone else but yourself. Take responsibility for your actions.
